Projection(s)

Parc St Léger, Residency and Exhibition
Art Center, Pougues-les-Eaux – 1999

(…) “By tilting the paintings like a mirror resting on the floor, they sit like a sculpture, creating a more physical relationship. And the use of a flat colour for the background of the paintings creates a kind of non-place. It creates a floating effect, an abstract space. The intention is to simplify the content and not to make the painting more complex, so as to open up a wider space for the viewer’s projection. “Extract from Interview with Emmanuel Chérel.
