This project was developed for a vineyard in Anjou called ”Les Belles Rives“. By bringing together data on wine chemistry and the way it is gradually built up from distinct molecular structures, Cécile Pitois came up with the image of the Vault of the Heavens. Onto this are affixed compositions of various molecular structures, akin to heavenly bodies that give the wine its flavor, its bouquet, and its color. These Molecular Constellations are presented on a large window inside a new architect-designed winery. They are organised into an abstract “territory” that plays with the light; the engraved glass shows the links between the elements, while golden yellow rhinestones recall the color of the ”Quart de Chaume“ grape. The artwork is a poetic creation resembling a constellation of stars, crafted from the corpuscles of terrestrial chemistry.
