Château du Rivau, Lémeré, France – 2005
The Château de Rivau, a listed building dating from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, hosts interventions by contemporary artists in its gardens. Based on a legend imagined by the artist, To My Sole Desire takes the form of a two-part installation: a porcelain candy dish placed in the reception area and a grille set with semi-precious stones covering a well located in the castle’s inner courtyard. Part of the Programme des Nouveaux Commanditaires, this piece gave Cécile Pitois the opportunity to begin thinking about the Wishful Sculptures series and to lay down the foundations of the project.
